Broadcasting students happily taking advantage of the new facilities at the media studio
The mission of the Sandwich High School Media Studio is to provide the school community with news, entertainment, and a forum for the exchange of ideas, while also providing an educational learning environment for students. Through the production of various mass media outlets, students gain practical experience in newsgathering and the production and dissemination of material.
SHS offers classes in broadcast journalism within the high school curriculum taught by staff English teacher, Scott Childress in addition to an afterschool program operated by Sandwich Community TV. These offerings enhance the learning experience of students through instruction in writing techniques, camera operation, production skills, documentary film-making methods and learning the operation of a state of the art control room and studio. Internet radio with playback of podcasts produced by students, in addition to a local radio station-WSDH, 91.5 on your FM dial, is available to students to operate within the studio.
